Participation in sports throughout childhood is crucial for each and every child’s development. Sports allow kids to make lasting friendships, develop communication skills, feel a sense of community and learn to respect their teammates and coaches. Harlem Lacrosse strives to provide opportunities, relationships, and experiences that activate the skills and traits to put youth on a path to success as students, athletes, and citizens. The organization also looks to empower middle and high school youth to rise above their challenges and reach their full potential.

Taylor Pinkernell, a 2021 Henrik Lundqvist Foundation Young Ambassador, and an avid believer in the value that sports provide youth, teamed up with Harlem Lacrosse to raise money in support of their mission. On July 28th, Taylor participated in a putting contest which generated enthusiasm locally and a check for $4,540 for Harlem Lacrosse.

Taylor’s fundraising efforts are enough to support one student’s summer academy expenses. The Harlem Lacrosse Summer Academy is a five-week academic and athletic program that allows students to get extra reps in the classroom and on the field during the summer. Further, the program offers students the opportunity to go on off-site excursions such as career and outdoor exploration trips with Harlem Lacrosse’s partner Elevate Youth.
