After the loss of his grandfather, Youth Ambassador Jack Baker was looking for ways to give a proper send off for his grandfather and others from Nassau County, New York who have died form Covid. He saw an article that showed a project done at the National Mall in Washington D.C., which was placing a flag for each American who had passed away due to Covid. He thought that would be a great idea to do for the people who are from his town and surrounding area. He reached out to his local town officials who  approved the idea but couldn’t get it to happen countywide. Then he reached out to his own town of Bayville’s Mayor. Mayor DeNatale gave Jack his full approval on the idea and wanted Jack to do it as soon as possible. With the help of friends and family, they set a total of 2,200 flags for all of the lives lost in Nassau County from Covid-19.
