On Sunday, January 12th, HLF officially welcomed the 5th class of Young Ambassadors, a group of 15 exceptional young men and women who were selected from applicants that sought positions in the program this past fall.

Ranging in age from 12 to 18, the group gathered for the first time to learn more about the service requirements they will fulfill in the year ahead, meet their HLFYA Mentor (a former program participant is paired with every Young Ambassador to support and enhance their experience) and connect with one another in person. In addition to learning, an ice breaker activity and receiving their new HLFYA gear, exclusively available to program participants, the group also hit the ground running giving back, completing their first service project of the year by collecting crayons in their communities to be donated to The Crayon Initiative. Program partner Buncee also presented to the youngsters, sharing their online digital creation and communication tool which enables HLFYAs to create professional-style marketing and promotional materials for the work they’re doing in their communities.

HLF is thrilled to continue to grow the Young Ambassadors program, this year adding PWC to the growing list of supporters who bring programming to our youth. Partners including Hockey Helps, Allstate, JP Morgan Chase, and Buncee also support the program with service learning events and generous financial gifts.
