New York Rangers star Henrik Lundqvist is shining a light on his biggest protector: the goalie mask. On Friday night at the Helen Mills Theater, the dapper goalie, who was wearing a suit by Swedish brand Stephen F and shoes by Ferragamo, hosted an exhibition of “The Mask Collection.” The exhibit showcased six goalie masks designed by celebrity friends on MSG Network’s original series “The Mask With Henrik Lundqvist,” along with the pièce de résistance: a Swarovski crystal-encrusted mask by artist Don Blanton. Each mask is being auctioned off for charity.

“I’ve sold a couple of masks in the past when [Hurricane] Sandy hit,” Lundqvist said. “We wanted to take that to the next level and involve other people to design a mask, and then we thought, ‘Why not film this?’” Lundqvist added.

On the show, which started airing last month, the Olympic gold medalist sits down with Mario Batali, Michael J. Fox, Tiësto, Jeff Gordon and John McEnroe to discuss their careers and design a mask that’s then realized by famed goalie mask painter David Gunnarsson.
